There’s a lot of good going on in Bude at the moment, so more congrats are due to those involved in Adsurf, who now have a new adaptive seated surf board to use.
The charity for inclusive surfing, was set up in 2022 by a small group of people in Bude to provide accessible and adaptive surfing for people with disabilities, mental health conditions and neuro-diversity. The new board means that any full-time chair users or people unable to self-support can still experience riding waves as part of AdSurf.
The charity’s trustees are Gill Cox, Zoe Gascoyne and Pete Smith, while in the water, surf coach and owner of Big Blue Surf School, Cyril Cox, has been helping to put their new adaptive seated surf board through its paces.
On their Facebook page, Adsurf thanked other local businesses for their contribution:
For all this we want to say a HUGE thank you to Zuma Jay & Escape Surfboards for sourcing and fitting the board, RootedOcean for making the handles, Tillett Racing Seats Ltd and Rolatec in Bude for the seat and fittings, and Ian from the Wave Project for all your help.
Also a thank you Cornwall Council for the funding to help make this possible.
Over half-term, the new board was used for the first time.
See more on their Facebook page. Why not give them a follow and see if you can help fund-raise for this very worthwhile charity? Donations always welcome.
