Fire Control yesterday received the first of several 999 calls reporting a car had driven off a road and into a river with persons trapped inside.
Two appliances and a Water Rescue Unit were mobilised from Bude along with additional Water Rescue Units from Plymouth and St Austell, as well as two whole-time Station Managers.
On arrival, crews found a vehicle in water at Crooklets car park, with two people still inside. Two other occupants had self-rescued prior to arrival of the brigade.
Crews were able to assist the two remaining occupants out of the vehicle to dry land.
All persons are thankfully accounted for and uninjured.
