The Met Office has issued an amber weather alert for cold, especially pertinent as so many people (myself included) are limiting the heating in their homes at the moment due to soaring energy costs. The Cold Weather Alert operates in England from the 1 November to 31 March every year, in association with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
So, there is a 90% probability of severe cold weather and icy conditions between 6pm on Wednesday 07 Dec and 9am on Monday 12 Dec in all parts of England, including Devon & Cornwall.
Bude itself is not too bad, with daytime highs reducing to 6 degrees from Wednesday, to 5 degrees on Friday. Nights will be chilly though. It will be a degree or so colder just across the border into Devon, with nighttime temperatures below zero on Dartmoor. These cold conditions are arising as air from the Arctic spreads south across the country.
There could be icy patches, so care is needed.
