A massive well done to the Barrel crew members who collected for Bude Foodbank at Sainsbury’s yesterday. Lots of people donated to the tune of over 40 crates of food and £200 of cash. The team were helped by the staff at Sainsburys who supplied hot drinks and biscuits on a pretty cold day.

Talking cold, the Big Issue seller on Belle Vue said how cold it was yesterday and it is getting colder. Please buy a copy if you can – it’s actually a good read, too. One of the issues covered is about poverty and pets.

On that note, Tamar vets at Bude and. Holsworthy are supporting the Bude and Northern Devon Food Banks.

They are providing Pet Food Collection Points in both of their branches in Bude and Holsworthy, saying:

As a local business (and as individuals) we are aware of the hardship the current cost-of-living crisis is causing people in our local community. We plan to match all donations of pet food received and then donate them to the wonderful people running the food banks to distribution to those most at need. We hope that people will generously donate pet food to help loving pet owners who are struggling to make ends meet.

Earlier, Paul and Laila Crum collected for Bude Christmas Hampers, too, making sure anyone who may need a little extra help over the festive period receives it.

Thanks to all of these (and other groups/individuals) for their efforts on behalf of others. It is making Christmas special, by making a difference.
