As online banking grows, especially through banking apps, and bank footfall declines, HSBC is closing more branches in 2023.
114 HSBC branches, including those in Launceston, Liskeard and Holsworthy, will be closing next year. Launceston is set to close on May 2nd, Liskeard on May 23rd and a date is awaited for Holsworthy.

Why don’t other banks follow Santander’s example? Instead of closing their branch, Santander Liskeard reduced its opening hours but the staff remain at their desks for the rest of their normal hours and answer phone queries for their remaining time thus cutting down the time we spend on the phone waiting for our calls to be answered. Surely a win-win situation!
