Info from Cornwall Council:
If you are buying a real Christmas tree, think about how you will dispose of it, says Cornwall Council.

The Council is asking residents to think about how they will dispose of real Christmas trees before they buy one.
This year, Cornwall Council will only collect trees from households that have subscribed to the garden waste collection service.
If you do not have a garden waste subscription, you can chip and compost your tree at home or take it to your local Household Waste and Recycling Centre for composting.

Alternatively, perhaps buy a tree with roots and replant it for next year.
Councillor Carol Mould: “We know that some people will be disappointed that we are unable to collect trees this year however this additional service costs a significant amount of money which is ultimately funded by council tax-payers.
“If people want to have a real Christmas tree, we urge them to think ahead and plan how they intend to dispose of it.”
If you subscribe to the Council’s garden waste collection service, you can put your tree out next to your bin or bag on your usual garden waste collection day in the New Year. For more information about the Council’s garden waste collection service, go to the Cornwall Council website.
Household Waste and Recycling Centres will be open 9am to 4pm throughout the festive period except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. To find your nearest centre, see the Cornwall Council website.
Why should the Council collect a Xmas tree anyway . Buy one and dispose of it yourself . It is your responsibility . We pay for too many children in households who are irresponsible by having too many children . 2 is enough . You will be wanting people to cook your Xmas dinner next
Thanks for your comment, Tim. I guess the Council long has collected trees, just as they do recycling and rubbish. But now they are not. As you say, fair enough.
Not quite sure where the children come into it.
Also, would contest the irresponsibility of having more than 2 children.
However, you’ll be pleased to know that the current birth rate for U.K. in 2022 is 11.322 births per 1000 people, a 0.48% decline from 2021. So, lots of people are having 1 or 0 children. It has been declining for some time.
There will be no one to fund us in our old age at this rate!
