Not too surprisingly with all this rain, there is a flood alert in force for the Upper River Tamar, potentially impacting Bude, Helebridge, Bridgerule, Canworthy Water, Launceston and Yeolmbridge. The Government’s flood warning service says:

River levels remain high on the River Tamar and further persistent rain is forecast overnight tonight Tuesday 22nd November and into tomorrow morning.

River levels will respond to this further rainfall.

Heavy showers are forecast to follow the persistent overnight rain. This may result in flooding to low lying land and roads close to the rivers from around 5am tomorrow morning Wednesday 23rd November.

River levels are expected to remain high throughout the day, though no flooding to properties is currently expected.

Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are monitoring river levels and have staff in the area checking for and clearing blockages.

There is a similar alert in place for the North Cornwall Coast to Hartland Point, excluding Bude. People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care next to the coast.
