Bude Refill Shop is a social enterprise which moved to its premises on Lansdown Mews a year ago today. It is a great success story for Bude.
The shop is run by a gang of dedicated volunteers, and offers items in whatever quantity you like (e.g., 100g of peppercorns if that is all you need) in brown paper bags, or your own refillable containers. They also have spares, if you are passing and have forgotten a container.
What a cool shop, packed with goodies like toiletries, cleaning products, couscous, and dried cranberries. Prices are keen, too.
So, not only is it good for the planet, it is good to combat human greed. If we only buy what we need, we eat/use less!
At the moment, they also have a refill price pledge. On their Facebook page, they say:
Times are tough, prices are rising and this means people are struggling. As a Community Interest Company, our aim is always to help our local community. We do this by providing plastic free, eco friendly options but also by keeping the prices of these items as low as we possibly can.
Previously, we have donated to Bude Food Bank and given away meals for kids in school holidays and this winter we have picked our Top 5 Essential Items and reduced the prices even further. Look out for these starred items in store!
