The last time roadworks occurred on a nearby stretch of the A39, I followed diversion signs and met an oncoming lorry on a single track country lane, concerned I might struggle to get out of the muddy mess I was forced into.
So, we are no doubt all thrilled to know that yet more work will take place between Fairy Cross and Knotty Corner near Abbotsham on the A39, with the road closed from 1 to 19th October between 7.00pm and 7.00am with a long, signed diversion route in place via Stratton and Holsworthy.
Resurfacing work on a 1.2km section of the road between Fairy Cross and Knotty Corner will start on Monday 1 October.
The scheme is expected to take around three weeks to complete, and the road will be closed from 7 pm to 7 am each evening in order to minimise disruption. The road will be open during the daytime.
Temporary traffic lights have been in place on the route over the past couple of weeks to enable drainage improvements and kerb replacement work to be carried out before resurfacing starts.
During the overnight closures in October, the diversion route will be signed via the A39, Bideford, A386, Landcross, Stibb Cross, Holsworthy, A3072, Stratton, A39 and vice versa.
