It’s wet, but you ain’t seen nothing yet according to the Met Office.
Rain is expected during Friday and Saturday and this will be heavy at times, especially over high ground. Many places within the warning area will see 10-20 mm of rain. However, over high ground, some places may see 80-90 mm – for example across Dartmoor and Exmoor.
There is also the potential for shorter-lived, more intense spells of rain to occur almost anywhere, perhaps giving 30-40 mm in 3 hours or less in some places. The rain should clear from the northwest by early afternoon.
Rain will be accompanied by strong southwesterly winds with gusts reaching 55 mph, especially over coasts and hills. The strong winds may lead to significant leaf fall which could contribute to a higher risk of flooding.
