Woman in A39 Collision Dies

A 49-year-old woman involved in a serious two-vehicle collision on the A39 near Barnstaple on Monday morning has died of her injuries.

The Bideford woman sustained serious injuries when her Ford Focus was in collision with a 44-tonne HGV near Rooksbridge between Barnstaple and Bideford.

She was airlifted to North Devon District Hospital and was then taken to Derriford Hospital where she passed away.

Officers from the Force Serious Collisions Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to the collision which happened around 10.40am.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 252 of 06/10/14.
