Woman dies in Looe fire

This is beyond but sad news, nonetheless, and a warning to us all how quickly fire can spread through a property:

A woman has died following a fire at a bungalow on Barbican Hill in East Looe which happened on New Year’s Eve [Sunday 31 December 2017].

Police were notified to reports of the fire at around 8.20pm on New Year’s Eve. Several fire crews from the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance along with police.

The victim, a woman in her 60s, was located deceased within the property. Her next of kin have been notified.

The cause of the fire is currently being treated as unexplained and a scene guard remains at the property.

Fire investigators will attend the scene this morning [Tuesday 2 January 2018] to carry out their investigation.
