As an adult, friendship can be difficult. People are busy with their own lives, going to work and mixing with their circle of friends but for those new to the area, a little reserved, or socially isolated, perhaps because of a move, illness, a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or even the kids moving out, then it can be hard to meet those new people who might just become good friends. Friendship is valuable and improves our wellbeing, but where can you go to meet others?
The question was asked on our Facebook page and here are some of the replies so far:
Bude Easy Exercise is a really lovely group of people who meet up for walks/ gentle exercise etc. It was started entirely for the purpose of meeting new friends.
Bude Jive Club. Meet Monday’s in The Ivor Potter Hall, Parkhouse Centre from late Sept to end June, excl Bank Hols. We have between 60/80 every week, & run dances with live bands. Beginners lessons £35 for 10 weeks incl free membership/ lessons & freestyle dancing & socialising.
The Barrel Border Morris has provided me with a fine new set of like-minded ‘nutters’!
For mental health issues try Kilk Clear Mind which meets in Bude as well.
Fisher Abilities every Friday in the Methodist Church Hall Neetside 1.00-3.00. X
Friendship club at the Methodist Church Neetside Tuesday 2.30-4.00 I think.
Bude VW Owners Club meet regularly for events.
THere is a group called New 2 Bude https://www.facebook.com/new2bude/
