There are weather warnings out for the SW as areas of rain and snow are expected to move into the UK from the southwest Thursday into Friday. Any single period of rain or snow should not last longer than 9 hours, but that can give quite an accumulation in parts. Conditions will vary – be aware that it might be fine when you set off, but if you get 5-10 cm on untreated roads, you are unlikely to get back easily. It’s hard to know quite where the snow will hit but obvious areas include higher ground.
Ice tonight through to morning (10 am) will make roads slippy, especially untreated ones, and may lead to travel disruption.
There is also a yellow warning for snow and ice on Thursday from 1 pm Thursday to 9 pm Friday.
Sleet and a fresh breeze tonight are likely. Some areas may see fog patches to add to the picture tomorrow.
Whatever, the weather isn’t great, as befits winter, so watch how you go, drive carefully if at all, and keep safe.
