Weather warnings for wind Sun and Weds

Well, what a soggy start to March. Near me, the farmers are digging trenches to drain the fields. The Met Office warns that:

A powerful jet stream is bringing areas of low pressure across the Atlantic Ocean resulting in an unsettled and windy period with rain for many regions and occasional snow for some.

For the SW, the issue is wind on Sunday:

Some of the highest gusts then will be in coastal areas of southwest England where in some exposed spots gusts close to 65 mph are possible. These strong gusts could damage trees and power lines and cause travel disruption.

By Wednesday, the issue is wind again, with strong northwesterly winds which are expected to cause possible transport disruption.

  • Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer

  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible

  • It is likely that some coastal routes, seafronts and coastal communities are affected by spray and/or large waves.

Be prepared.
