Using the Bude library in times of Covid

I’m a great fan of Bude library but things have changed.

Cornwall’s Libraries are now able to offer book services again by welcoming you at the door but not any further just yet. Order your books online, then go to your nominated library to collect them from the lobby or entrance. Note the opening hours: Bude library foyer opens from 10am to 3pm only on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday only.

little tip, if you reserve a book, it goes on your library account from the day it arrives at the library, not the day you collect it. I suddenly found some books had been waiting for me since July, and I only had a week left to read them in as others had also reserved them. I was also concerned that books I returned may not go off my account but so far, so good, and the system works (providing the two I returned yesterday are removed from my account – think there is a short wait for updating due to Covid).

You can also return items, with no fines until 30 September.  There is a car park with six free spaces for library and one stop shop customers, including one disabled parking bay which is very useful for just dropping off and collecting books.

Please note that not all services and facilities are available so please check with your local library before making a special journey.

Oh, and I’m pleased that my new book, Pamela Colman Smith, is available to reserve at Bude (copies are at Truro and St Austell). Two of my other books, Secret Bude and Bude Through Time are also available at Bude Library.

All online services continue. These include:
