While the Upper Tamar and Upper and Lower Torridge areas are still on amber alert, the River Torridge (Lower) from Dolton to Bideford, including Taddiport and Weare Gofford is now at red alert status since last night.
That means that flooding is expected. River levels have risen due to yesterday’s rainfall and despite a dry night, levels are expected to remain high.
Yesterday, we had reports of partial road blockage at Weare Gifford due to land slippage, so do please be careful in these areas. Rivers should have now peaked but the ground is saturated and very reactive. There is likely to be widespread standing water.
More rain is expected at the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are set to see more wet weather across the country with the possibility of further significant disruption caused by flooding.
