Tender to be issued for storm tower work

From the town Council:

Are you an Architect or Contractor?

The future of the Town’s landmark Storm Tower is threatened by coastal erosion standing now just metres from the cliff edge. The tower is a Grade II listed stone structure set in a Site of Special Scientific Interest. We, the Town Council, are working on a rescue plan and are currently undertaking detailed surveys as a requirement of Historic England and Natural England before any relocation works commence.

We will shortly be issuing a tender enquiry for the supervising Architects. We will be seeking to engage a local architect who is RIBA registered and has heritage conservation experience. The tender will include gaining Listed Building Consent, preparing tenders for the works and supervising the contract.

We are therefore inviting any interested architects to send in their expression of interest now so that we can ensure you are made aware of the tender advertisement.

We are also interested in contractors for the works, those that have experience in traditional stone masonry. Any local companies keen to undertake or assist in this high profile project should also send in an expression of interest. This will help our professional team target the local opportunities.

For both Architects and Contractors please provide full contact details and summarise your past experience in a few sentences and contact us at office@bude-stratton.gov.uk for the attention of the project officer.
