SW Covid update

Once again, due to the new Omicron variant and new restrictions, hopefully temporary, introduced for next week, Covid is back as key news.

In Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for the 7 days to 22nd November, cases numbered 2726, a case rate of 473.7 per 100,000 people. 410 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 28 November 2021. DEvon had 5415 cases, a rate of 667.9 per 100,000.

Between 22 November 2021 and 28 November 2021, 3,000 people in Cornwall  had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 19.5% compared to the previous 7 days.

On 27th November, numbers in Bude & Stratton were up to 91, a case rate of 856.8 per 100,000. There were 93 cases in Kilkhampton and Poundstock, a case rate of 1,221.4 per 100,000. These are both far higher than the national average.

3 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 21 November 2021.

Between 15 November 2021 and 21 November 2021, 28 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 100.0% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 32 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 23 November 2021.

There were 3 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 23 November 2021.

Deaths

Between 22 November 2021 and 28 November 2021, there have been 4 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
