SW Covid update for pre-Christmas period

In the run up to Christmas, Covid case numbers climbed again in Cornwall. In the 7 days to 23rd December, 3089 cases were counted, a rise of 11.3%

Devon’s cases also rose by 9.6% to 4859. Numbers here were still relatively low for that period compared to parts of London, and its environs.

Hertfordshire, for example, had 19969 total cases, a case rate of 1670.1 per 100,000 people compared to Cornwall’s case rate of 536.7.

Bude had 88 cases, a case rate of 830.3, one of the higher case rates in Cornwall. Torridge, at one point highest in the country, had dropped to 330 cases, a rate of 480.2.
