Whichever area you live in, local independent news providers are the most trusted source of news in the media. However, over 95 per cent of them have received zero support from the Government since the start of the Lockdown.
While £35m has been allocated to the ‘newspaper industry’ in order to save lives by providing essential information to the public, and support the press, this money is not reaching the local independent news sector.
If you value your local independent paper or news website and rely on it for accurate, essential, and up-to-date information about the Coronavirus pandemic, write to your MP now. Here’s the link.
As you know, Bude & Beyond is run for you by volunteers who donate our time (and in some cases, money) to provide a site for you that is free to use. As we have had a moratorium on advertising during the lockdown, then our normal source of finance for running costs has not been available. If you are thinking of advertising with us that would be great.
A rotating ad on the site for a year costs £100, effectively 50p a week, and we then share as much of your info as we can on our social media, too. Worth thinking about to help kickstart your business.
