Yesterday, I saw a young dead deer on the A39, birds are regulars, and today, not far from home, I saw a dead rabbit being eaten by, among other things, a weasel. Yes, we are in full roadkill season.
Lockdown meant that wildlife literally had a field day. Normally, according to this article, 2.5 million birds in Great Britain become roadkill and 0.5 million other animals. When cars were not on the roads, even more hedgehogs were managing to survive (and they are quite slow movers).
There is some crazy driving going on, so hopefully drivers might just think about other people and animals on the roads and take it just a little more gently.
