Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a teenage girl in Tavistock yesterday afternoon.
Officers were informed by ambulance at around 4.15pm that they had airlifted a 15-year-old girl to Derriford Hospital after she was found unwell in the street having believed to have taken an unknown substance.
Police attended both the hospital and an area near the disused viaduct near Crowndale Road where the teenager was located.
Sadly the girl died at the hospital a short time later. Her next of kin have been informed and police are supporting the family.
A 14-year-old boy was also taken to Derriford Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Police believe that both teenagers had suffered adverse reactions having taken an, as yet unknown, substance or substances.
Police would like to speak to anyone who has any information in connection with this incident, including anyone who was in the area around the viaduct this afternoon.
