Spare a thought for those shops still unable to open

Bude is more or less fully open now, but spare a thought for those small shops who do not feel they can put social distancing in place, as it stands. Here’s just a couple …

Acorn ish Studio is a working art and craft studio, based in the old museum on the Lower Wharf, Bude, selling beautifully crafted work by Mixed Media artist Francesca Vincent.

Fran says:

I own Acorn ish studio, but am not open as yet as I’m so small and concerned on how I’m going to keep everyone safe! Keeping an eye on how things are going but, unfortunately, a large part of my income in based on tourism so will probably have to open up soon. Information in window and always happy to post items or even drop to customers if local. Busy creating at home so hopefully when I do reopen I’ll have plenty of stock.

Meanwhile, Jemima Rainbow gift shop in the Strand Shopping Centre has also been closed. Co-owner, Binzy, says:

The shop could be opening in a week or so. It’s really too small to safely have more than one customer, so social distancing has been a real issue.

I’m sure there are other small shops out there struggling because of their size, as they have rent to pay with no income coming in.

Do remember these shops will usually sell to you online or post items out.
