A gym in Bude has seen the number of new members per month soar from 15 to a staggering 277 since moving into a new state-of-the-art facility.
An additional four fitness instructors have also been employed by GLL Bude as a direct result of relocating to the Spaciotempo building.
The incredible increase in membership immediately followed the gym’s move from an annexe at Bude Splash Leisure Pool into a bespoke temporary structure linked to the centre.
Duty Manager Keith Taylor said the response from existing and new members had been overwhelming: “The customers absolutely love the new gym – we have all been completely wowed by it. The increase in the number of new members is a testament to the quality and design of the building and the hi-tech equipment we have installed.
“This time last year we averaged around 15 new members per month whereas in February – our first month of opening – 277 people joined! The increase in membership has not only been a massive boost to the business, it has also enabled us to employ four local people, taking the number of fitness instructors from one to five.”
It has been kitted out with top-of-the-range Technogym equipment and features a separate fitness studio with a sprung floor and dryside changing areas.
The sports centre has an aesthetically-pleasing curved thermo roof and 10 windows to create a light and airy environment.
Keith added: “The gym itself is brilliant. It is light and spacious, and we can now offer our customers a much wider range of equipment thanks to the increased space. The studio is a real bonus as we can run fitness classes, tailored to the preference of members, in a separate area. We have also been able to fit individual sound systems – one in the gym and one in the studio – so that neither disturbs the other.
“Spaciotempo was able to create a truly bespoke facility that perfectly met our requirements. The gym has provided a wider audience with the opportunity to get fit and healthy as well as enabling us to boost employment in the area. The new building marks the beginning of a really positive era for GLL Bude and we are looking forward to a very bright future.”
