An extension is being built on the side of the existing building and improvements include a brand new state-of-the-art gym filled with top-of-the-range Technogym equipment, a new fitness studio and new dryside changing areas.
“These are really exciting developments for Bude that will transform the centre,” said General Manager Nick Trevenna. “At a time when many of us spend a large part of our working day sat in front of a computer screen, it’s never been more important to exercise and avoid all the problems connected with becoming overweight. Activity helps on a social and emotional level too – there’s a lot of fun to be had joining others in the gym!
“This is a huge investment for Bude and one which we hope will be of real benefit to the local community.”
Charitable leisure social enterprise provider GLL is the company behind the makeover, having taken on a 25-year contract on 1 April 2017 to run the county’s network of leisure centres and sports amenities on behalf of Cornwall Council.
Work is expected to be complete by the end of January 2019 and there will be very little disruption during the refurbishment period.
