The Shoreline Triathlon took place on Sunday, and as usual, entries were full for a day of great challenge. The results are listed here.
Once again, the event attracted a variety of competitors from beginners to national athletes. The website explains how the location is chosen:
When designing this race we just looked at what Bude had to offer. The high tide bay at Summerleaze with the breakwater sheltering it from the Atlantic swell was always going to be perfect for the open water swim. The coast road out of Bude towards Widemouth Bay is both fast and hilly and with a return to Bude via the A39 it’s a natural loop. And the run through town and then along the canal towpath returning via Lynstone Road produces a grand finish along the Strand and then up the length of Summerleaze Car Park.
Well done to all the amazing competitors.
I just did a gentle after a 6 pm dog walk on the beach as the competitors were finishing off. Many looked as if they had just run to the corner shop, testimony to their fitness levels.
