Scott Mann comments on the Stagecoach consultation

Changes to bus services between Bude and Exeter or rather Bude-Holsworthy, Holsworthy-Okehampton and Okehampton-Exeter are at the consultation stage, so this is your chance to contact the company and your MP and make your voice heard before decisions are made.

There definitely seems to be incongruence in national thinking on connected communities and Stagecoach’s thinking.

I contacted Scott Mann for a view. He said:

“I will be engaging on the consultation process on behalf of Bude residents and I have already requested a meeting with Stagecoach to discuss the service.

“I very recently held a meeting with the Head of Transport for Cornwall Council, and I was briefed on the very exciting new contract; including one-hundred new buses coming to Cornwall in March, new routes, and £1 around town buses. There will be news about connections in the new contract concerning Exeter and Okehampton from Bude, although we are still awaiting details of this.

“I will continue to support any local groups, and the Council, as we seek better connectivity for our North Cornwall community.”

Of course, the Holsworthy – Exeter legs of the journey come under Devon, it seems that Devon Council and MP Geoffrey Cox also need to be involved in the talks.

Hi, I live on the A3072 coming from Stratton towards red Post. The nearest bus stop requires me walking 3/4 mile down a busy road that has no footpath to get on a bus which I’ve tried but with children is too dangerous. Will this new service allow me to flag a bus down without there being a stop? We folk in rural areas off main roads would love to use the bus to get into Bude but walking nearly a mile down a busy road to get to a stop puts me off.
