Santa is making a special appearance at the upcoming Bude Christmas Fayre, which is to be held on Sunday 2nd December, from 11 am to 4 pm. The Christmas Fayre is the biggest ever organised by Bude-Stratton Town Council, and so this year it will be held across both the Parkhouse Centre and The Castle, Bude.
Mr. Claus and his grotto will be situated upstairs in The Castle, where he will meet children and ask what they would like for Christmas. He is also asking for children to bring along their Christmas wish list too – which they can post in his magic post-box that goes straight to the Elf Manufacturing Headquarters at the North Pole. But in the event that children forget to bring their letters, luckily there will be Santa stationary available to write and post on the day.
Santa will then give both naughty and nice children a free treat, in the form of yummy Moo Free chocolates. He will also offer children a free small wooden Christmas tree decoration, which they can choose to decorate downstairs in the Christmas arts and crafts room. Once decorated, they’ll have a lasting token and reminder of their day to show off proudly on their Christmas tree year after year!
Later in the day, Santa is going to be giving out more even more gifts as part of the Christmas tree competition, sponsored by Toymaster in Bude. Managers of Toymaster Karen and Carol are responsible for picking the winning designs of the trees, and they, along with Father Christmas himself, will be presenting 1st, 2nd and 3rd Toymaster prizes to the lucky winners on stage at 3 pm in the Parkhouse Centre.
Over the course of the day, there is more fun to be had for children and families at The Castle, with face painting and interactive singing workshops, including a ‘Sing and Sign’ singalong for children with hearing disabilities.
The Castle – with Santa and his grotto, the magic postbox and the Christmas arts and crafts room – is more focused on children and families, whereas the Parkhouse Centre – with its live festive music, delectable food and stalls to browse – is suited for all ages.
The Parkhouse Centre will have plenty of stalls to browse from a range of local businesses, including La Bocca Pizza Kitchen, Helen Shingler Art, Sweet P, A Drop in The Ocean, The Wonky Kitchen, and many more! So please do come on down and support local.
The Parkhouse Centre will also be host to live music too, with Christmas songs and carols from the choir Encore!, and also local primary schools too, including pupils from Bude Primary School. There will also be Cornish singer and X-Factor contestant ‘Rosie’, performing too. Furthermore, there will be DJ and Radio Presenter Andy King narrating the whole day.
If you’re hungry, there will, of course, be the traditional mulled wine and mince pies on offer, but also stone baked pizza and sweet or savoury crepes!
And as with the true spirit of Christmas and giving, the Parkhouse Centre will be home to some charitable causes that we are asking the community to support. We have a collection for Bude Foodbank, who welcome any food donations that you can bring along with you on the day. We also have Friends of Bude Seapool collecting old ink cartridges and mobiles, so if you have any hanging around, don’t forget to bring them along too, to support our sea pool.
Free entry for all ages. Please RSVP to the event via the Castle Facebook page here for your chance to win a voucher for complimentary mulled wine and mince pie on the day: https://www.facebook.com/events/169655493953558
