The Branch recently staged a very successful Trafalgar Night Dinner at The Falcon Hotel. It was a real pleasure to welcome an 18-strong party from our Plymouth Branch. Presiding as Master of Ceremonies for this excellent event was our Branch Social Secretary, Chunky Philp. After the dinner, a Raffle was held with our usual quality prizes, followed by an auction.
In a separate auction, two knitted dolls, ‘Jack’ and ‘Royal’ were bid for in aid of the Children’s Hospice West. Immediately prior to our November Meeting, Margaret Horswell who knitted the two dolls, was presented with a cheque for the magnificent sum of £575.
Margaret has promised to employ her creative skills to knit a companion for Jack and Royal, ‘Jenny Wren,’ for our 2019 Trafalgar Day Dinner, as long as Jenny is depicted wearing black stockings!)

The Branch Meeting followed and routine Agenda items were swiftly dealt with. Shipmates agreed to send a Christmas card and shopping voucher to the widows of our deceased shipmates. We welcomed a new Associate Member, Mike Dinsdale. Mike is a local businessman attracting locals and visitors alike into his emporium of goodies! Our tot tonight was kindly sponsored by Chris Masterman, celebrating his birthday. Sponsorship of the December tot will be shared. Volunteers for December Raffle prizes are shipmates: Tanky Williams, Dave Worth, Steve Adams, Alan Bicker and John Bosworth, plus any voluntary contributions.
The meeting closed following the Loyal Toast. Included in the Loyal Toast was Shipmate Pat Moore. The Branch had the privilege of forming a Guard of Honour at his recent funeral.
After the meeting, the raffle & auction were both well supported, as always.
