Rock the Barrel

By Ian O’Hare:

On Monday the 12th of February James Dixon, the well regarded and popular local singer and songwriter will host the first in a monthly series of ‘Rock the Barrel’ open mic nights. Held on the second Monday of every month at The Barrel at Bude this new event compliments the Barrel’s very popular weekly Sunday Sessions.

“I am really excited to have been asked to host the Rock the Barrel events. It’s such a great new venue in North Cornwall, quickly gaining a great reputation for hosting excellent live music in a small space with bags of character. Really hoping to encourage the great and good of the Southwest music scene to swing by and show us what they can do and help to support music and performance which is both live and local”

Open to all musicians, poets, writers, comedians and performers of all ages and all types this event will offer a supportive environment to showcase local talent with the act judged to be best on the night winning £20 of Barrel gift vouchers and the kudos of opening the following month’s Rock the Barrel event!

Rachel O’Hare from the Barrel at Bude commented: “We’re thrilled that James is hosting our ‘Rock the Barrel’ evenings. Not only is he an amazingly talented individual, we know, from seeing him perform at our Sunday Sessions, that he will put everyone at their ease and make theses evenings a great success”
