Officers were called shortly after 9.40pm on Monday 6 December to the Spar store on Chester Road following reports that two men had entered the store in possession of weapons and made threats of violence to the staff.

It was reported that one of the men, who was carrying a screwdriver, told the staff to open the tills and took a quantity of cash and cigarettes which were put into a light-coloured plastic bag. The second man was believed to be standing nearby in possession of a pickaxe.

Both men left the area on foot and turned left out of the store in the direction of St Anne’s Road.
