The fire service received an emergency call from Devon and Cornwall Police yesterday at 16.50, stating that there had been a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A39 at Jacobstow, with people trapped.

Two appliances from Bude, the Rescue Tender from Bodmin and a whole time officer attended the incident.

Firefighters used Crash Rescue Equipment to open the passenger door of one vehicle, enabling paramedics to assess the casualty.

Crews made the vehicle safe and assisted Devon and Cornwall Police with traffic management.

The vehicles were reported to be a Land Rover and a BMW. The crash affected traffic between Bude and Camelford, while the air ambulance attended. One driver suffered minor facial injuries, the other a head injury.

The road was re-opened around 7 pm.
