Public advised to be vigilant near the coast

Despite having no phone with me to take photos (I know, amazing) I was at Widemouth Bay earlier. Waves were huge and foam was flying. Then to Nanny Moore’s where water was on the road, and the level was virtually up to the top of the arches, then to Crooklets, where more huge waves pounded the cliffs, and foam flew up to the car park.

The Environment Agency is urging people to stay safe with coastal flooding possible on Thursday.

Localised coastal flooding is also likely in parts of Cornwall and Devon on Thursday.

People can keep up to date with the latest safety advice by calling Floodline on 0345 988 1188, by following @EnvAgency on Twitter, or by checking GOV.UK for the latest flood updates.
