From Devon & Cornwall Police:
Police in Barnstaple are asking for the public’s help to track down a stalker who has been following a woman for four years.
Officers have released an e-fit of a man they would like to identify in relation to the ongoing harassment of the woman in her 50s in Barnstaple.
The victim first contacted police in November last year to report that a man had been following and approaching her on-and-off in the town, particularly in the Boutport Street area.
The offender often targets the woman around lunchtime and has made suggestive comments to her on a number of occasions. She has not been physically harmed.
In November she reported the incidents to police, saying she had become increasingly frightened by the man whose actions had begun to escalate.
The victim does not know the offender.
He is described as white, in his late 40s, more than 6ft tall and of medium build. He has very bulbous eyes and is always dressed in dark blue clothing and carries a rucksack.
PC Frank Morgan, based at Bideford, said: “This has been a very intimidating and frightening ordeal for the victim, particularly as this has been going on for a long time.
“We are appealing to the public to help us identify this man. Anyone who recognises him or has seen someone who matches the description acting suspiciously around Barnstaple is asked to contact police.”
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact police via firstname.lastname@example.org or call 101, quoting crime reference CR/095208/17.
Information can also be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers via 0800 555111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
