Police make further arrest re suspected murder

From Devon & Cornwall Police:

Police have made a further arrest in connection with the suspected murder of a 22-year-old man at Kit Hill near Callington on Saturday 26 March.

A 24-year-old man from Callington has been arrested on suspicion of murder and bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Rob Back, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “This is a complex enquiry and I’d like to thanks the communities in East Cornwall for their support as we continue our investigation.”

A 37-year-old man and a 29-year-old man from Gunnislake have been arrested on suspicion of murder of the 22-year-old man.

In addition, a 38-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both from Callington, have been arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of a 37-year-old man during the same incident.

All suspects have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The 37-year-old murder suspect – who is the victim of the attempted murder – was recalled to prison, from hospital, on licence for previous offences on April 1. He has been placed on notional police bail for murder while enquiries continue.

Officers believe this to be an isolated incident between a group of males known to each other.
