Police appeal after fatal collision in Barnstaple

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in North Devon.

Police were called at around 5.40pm on Monday 5th November with reports of a collision on the A361, at the layby on the approach to Pottington, Barnstaple.

It is believed that the vehicle, a MAN tipper lorry, was travelling from Braunton towards Barnstaple when it was involved in a collision with a pedestrian who was in the area of the layby.

The pedestrian, a 58-year-old man local man was taken to North Devon District Hospital, where he was later declared deceased.

His next of kin have been informed, but formal ID has yet to have taken place.

Officers from across the Force attended the scene and have commenced an investigation.
