On his Facebook page, Cornwall Councillor, Peter La Broy, has announced his decision to leave the Lib Dem group of Cornwall Councillors, continuing as an Independent:
With a heavy heart, I have taken the decision to leave the Liberal Democrat Group at Cornwall Council. I have been disappointed with our central party and their inability to create any convincing policies or messaging, but had hoped to be a part of rebuilding the Libdem group of Cornwall Councillors.
Although they have a superb leader in Edwina Hannaford, there are underlying tensions within the group. This is totally understandable as they consider their losses at the last election and are forming new policies and relationships. My own values did not tally with the direction of travel, so I feel it’s best to let the group get on with rebuilding themselves without me. I wish them every success.
I will represent Bude as an independent councillor and hope to continue to build projects and ideas that will help our community meet the challenges of the 21st century. My heart remains as a centrist politician and I will bring those values of tolerance, respect and fairness to everything that I engage with as your representative.
