A person in Cornwall was struck by lightning yesterday, as Storm Ciara continued with strong winds, hail, and thunderstorms.
Critical Control received a 999 call reporting a person struck by lightning. One fire engine from Truro, one from Newquay and a Flexi-Duty Group Manager were sent to the scene.
On arrival, crews found lightning had struck a BT junction box and one casualty had suffered minor injuries in the process.
Crews made the scene safe and the casualty was taken to hospital by paramedics.
Several homes in St Austell, Par and St Blazey were hit by lightning.
