Outdoor theatre by the sea at Bedruthan

Bedruthan Hotel and Spa have once again teamed up with local theatre companies, Illyria and Quantum Theatre to bring some award-winning theatre to their stunning sea-view lawn this summer.

Families, guests and visitors can enjoy live performances in a beautiful coastal setting, along with a BBQ, pop up bar and, hopefully, a sunset to end the show.

Quantum Theatre will be bringing a brand new adaptation of the timeless classic, The Wind in the Willow, to the seaside hotel. Join Mole, Ratty, Badger and Mr Toad as they picnic on the river bank, mess about on boats, and rescue the reckless Mr Toad from his brushes with the law. This is a heart-warming and whimsical tale of friendship and mishap.

Illyria will be performing Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, an adventurous tale adapted from the One Thousand and One Nights, otherwise known as the Arabian Nights. Follow Ali Baba into an enchanted cave where he discovers a large amount of gold and jewels. After taking some home to his wife it is announced that Robber King is looking for the missing treasure, supported by an army of 40 angry thieves! Ali Baba starts to wonder if taking the treasure was the best idea. This is an action-packed adventure filled with cliff-hangers, larger than life characters, and laughs galore.

Eve Butler, Brand Manager for Red Hotels, said: “We can’t wait to have Quantum Theatre and Illyria performing on our sea view lawn again this year! We always love theatre season as it gives both hotel guests and locals a chance to share a unique experience with their loved ones. We hope those that attend thoroughly enjoy it.”

The Wind in the Willows will take place on July 6 at 5pm with a running time of 1 hour and thirty-five minutes. Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves will take place on August 3 at 5pm with a running time of 1 hour and forty minutes. Both will include an interval.

Theatregoers should arrive half an hour prior to the start time to purchase any food or beverages, before taking a seat for the start of the show. Any food and drinks purchased will be at an additional cost to the theatre tickets. Visitors are encouraged to bring along blankets, chairs and cushions.
