Not yet! Some pubs remain closed for now

Not all pubs are opening today. Some are waiting for May and the end of restrictions in June.

Those re-opening today include the Preston Gate at Poughill, the Brendon Arms, and Crooklets Inn. Further afield, Gartland Quay hotel will be open for outside drinks.

How it works:

People won’t need to order a substantial meal with alcoholic drinks – and there’ll be no 22:00 curfew.

But Covid measures are still in place:

  • order, eat and drink while seated at a table
  • follow either the rule of six, or be in a a group of any size with no more than two households present
  • all aged 16 and over will have to check in to NHS test and trace, or give contact details to staff
  • When not seated – e.g., trip to the loo – customers should wear face masks (unless exempt) and observe social distancing

The Carriers is awaiting a May opening. Nice to see it back to traditional white.

The Barrel is also awaiting a May 17th reopening.

Have borrowed the Smithy Inn’s sign – they too are not opening yet (not least because the weather isn’t very conducive) but are ‘keeping an open mind’.

The Bush at Morwenstow is opening on 14th April.

Bar 35 is opening on 30th April.

Bradworthy Inn is awaiting May and hopefully warmer weather.
