While most people in Devon and Cornwall were perfectly fine and good citizens, the Police racked up 1000 reports of anti-social behaviour by 10 pm last night – most were drink-related.
Newquay, Barnstaple, Teignmouth and Torquay were hotspots.
Quite a few traffic related incidents on the North Devon Link Road were also reported, including a driver on the A361 South Molton averaging 98 mph because he was really tired and wanted to get home, and an Aston Martin Vanquish stopped on the A361 Barnstaple clocking an average speed of 115 mph.
Visitors are indeed now welcome but not so much those who get off their faces and create aggro or who drive at such dangerous speeds. Ditto locals escaping lockdown.
Meanwhile, in Bude, it sounds like businesses that reopened had a largely successful day without too much hassle, so that’s good. Feel free to comment here.
