A vacancy has arisen on Cornwall Council for Bude area, following the resignation of Nigel Pearce.
Nigel Pearce, Liberal Democrat Cornwall councillor, spent 9 years representing Bude. He also represented Bude for four years as a NCDC councillor.
Nigel campaigned for many things including more affordable housing for local people and safer cycling and walking to school.
He was in the group who started the campaign to save the Bude sea pool when Cornwall Council wanted to close it and was a founder member of the Friends of the Bude Sea Pool
Additionally, he worked with many local community groups and organisations bringing a million pound investment to Bude tourism and free parking at the library, revitalising play areas and many other initiatives.
He will continue to campaign for safer cycling and walking to school in Bude and keeping Bude special from overdevelopment.
Nigel has just married Jennifer Clair a Canadian from Alberta and they intend to remain living in Bude.
Nigel says: “This is a new stage in my life with Jennifer and it was a great privilege representing Bude at Cornwall Council something I will miss and I will always be grateful for the help and support I received from Bude people,
I confess I won’t miss the bureaucracy and red tape and driving the long way to Truro from Bude”
A by-election will be held to replace Nigel Pearce in the Bude ward later this year.
