New Torridge Careers website

Torridge Council has launched a new Job Vacancies website to showcase opportunities and careers at the Council through a series of eye-catching and interactive web pages. With the aim of reaching an even wider audience, the website has been designed to convey the attractive working conditions and terms offered by the Council as well as the many positive benefits of relocating to this beautiful part of the Country.

Students from PETROC College in Barnstaple were invited to help with a large part of the design and coding with the aim of making the web pages more intuitive and appealing to applicants. The project team from Torridge encouraged them to think “outside of the box” to redesign the site and the students enthusiastically rose to the challenge putting all their recently acquired skills into a real-life project.

The result is a brand new standalone site launched this week which features videos and bespoke web pages which Torridge hope will attract many more applicants to applying for vacancies and ultimately choosing a career with the Council.

Tim Barker – IT Lecturer at Petroc said:

“It was great for the students to get some hands-on experience in designing a live website for Torridge HR department and I am immensely proud of what they have achieved. It will ultimately be something they can look back on with pride and will no doubt be of great benefit to them on their CV’s and in seeking job placements once they leave the college”.

Councillor Jane Whittaker – Leader of Torridge District Council said:

“The new website looks every bit as good as we hoped it would be when we asked Petroc to help with its design. This is a credit not only to the students but also our project officers and HR department who all worked really well together to deliver this end result. We hope it will attract many more talented people to consider applying for a really rewarding career working for the Council while serving both our residents and visitors alike”.
