New event to try to revamp BAAM

From Stuart Marshall.

This will be the first venture for several years since the last festival we put on in 2015, and is hopefully the resurrection of Bude Arts and Music BAAM.

We are focusing on using the Parkhouse and trying to work with them to help us provide some more alternative entertainment for Bude and utilising their facilities more.

Our first event is an autobiographical comedy musical. A one woman tour-de-force about her upbringing as a member of a family dedicated to amateur dramatics and especially musical theatre. It also explores the themes of leaving your home environment, discovering your personal sexual orientation and re appraising your childhood and family connections. All in a playful and affectionate way.

Above all it is a celebration of a life well lived and we hope it will inspire and connect with everyone who comes to see it. More info on the Facebook page here where it says:

I, AmDram is an autobiographical comedic musical about growing up in a family dedicated to amateur dramatics and musical theatre. For 4 generations Maxwell’s entire family have been involved in a local musical theatre scene. After leaving home and establishing herself as lesbian performance artist in London, Maxwell revisits her hometown, her family and re lives memories of shows gone by – particularly the fraught rehearsals! Switching between suburb and city, I, AmDram explores the identities we assert and the worlds we leave. Among many other stages Hannah has performed at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2019 and Adelaide Festival where she has won awards and accolades for her performances.
– After the show Hanna will be hanging around answering any questions about the show and about all aspects of what it means to be I Am Dram!
– The BAAM Bubbles And Beer Bar will be in operation, serving fizzy drinks of all flavours to wet your whistle before, during and after the event.
– Tickets are available online from Carn to Cove website and from Bude Tourist Information Centre.
This show is suitable for ages 14+
