A massive barn fire occurred last night at St Mabyn near Wadebridge. The control centre received 19 emergency calls to the fire which needed 60 firefighters. 7 fire engines, 3 water carriers (including 1 from Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service), 1 aerial ladder platform and a high volume pump were in attendance. The main barn measured approximately 80 metres by 40 metres, consisting of five bays, two of which contain around 1000 bales of hay which were well alight.
Good progress was made into this morning. Flames and smoke could be seen from several miles away. As far as we are aware, there are fortunately no reports of any injuries.
