Man with heatstroke rescued by Coastguard

Bude Coastguard Rescue Team were paged at 17:09 on Saturday and tasked by Falmouth Coastguard Operations Centre (CGOC) to Morwenstow, following the report of a male casualty who had collapsed with heatstroke w running on the coastal footpath.

After conferring with the paramedics at the scene, it was determined that the best course of action was to evacuate the casualty to hospital by helicopter.

Rescue 924 – the Coastguard helicopter – was tasked and members of the Bude Coastguard team prepared a suitable landing site in advance of its arrival. Hartland Coastguard Search and Rescue Team were also tasked to back up the Bude team.

The casualty was stretchered to the waiting helicopter and was subsequently flown to Derriford hospital.
