M5 fatal collision

Police continue their investigation following a serious incident on Tuesday 13 February, which closed the M5 at Cullompton.

Officers were notified at around 6.40am to reports that a body had been hit by multiple vehicles on the M5 between junctions 28 and 29 southbound. The identity of the deceased man has yet to be confirmed.

The road was closed for around eight hours whilst officers from Exeter CID and the Roads Policing Team carried out full and thorough examination in what was a multi-agency response.

A full investigation of the scene was completed and enquiries are continuing to determine the identity of the deceased and the reason for the body being on the motorway.

Weather at the time of this incident was poor with heavy rain and it was the hours of darkness.
