Lucy inspires cadets with her story

On a recent visit to the Army Cadet Force in Bude, Cpl Lucy Chappell inspired the cadets with her story.

Having joined the Royal Marines band nine years ago Lucy has had an action-packed life. Not only has she developed her musical ability, she has represented the Navy and the Combined Services at basketball, abseiled down the Telecom Tower and been the ‘guinea pig’ for women joining the Royal Marines, which is widely acknowledged as the longest, and hardest, basic training in the world.

Most recently Lucy has been selected to take part in the Norway 75 Commando Spirit venture. This is a 2000 mile trip along the coast of Norway by cycle or kayak to raise awareness of the Commando raids in World War 2. This was a fabulous evening and the cadets were inspired by her story.

If you are interested in the cadet force, either as a young person or an adult volunteer, do get in touch. You can email the detachment commander, 2Lt Alistair Harper, on
