Local young horse rider wins Supreme on debut at Hickstead

Kizzy O’Keefe, aged 15, from Bradworthy, a pupil at Budehaven, competed with her pony, Pride of Rineen, at the showjumping at  Hickstead Showground, Sussex this weekend .

Not only did she win her classes and champion, she then went on to win Supreme Champion.

Her Mum, Linda, says: “She worked so hard to achieve this, with lots of training. We travelled 7 hours each way and I’m very proud of my daughter and how well she did. It would be nice to see some local recognition and possibly future local sponsorship from local companies.”

Izzy’s success also appeared on her school’s news page which said:

Kizzy’s Hickstead Debut

Year 9 Student Kizzy O’Keefe and her pony, ‘Pride of Rineen’ made their first visit to the internationally renown ‘All England Jumping Course’ venue Hickstead last week.

With over 2000 competitors taking part, across the various classes, Kizzy competed against 76 other riders in her individual events.
She achieved several double clear rounds and was placed 3rd, 7th, 10th and 12th against some very fast and experienced riders and ponies.
Once again Kizzy was the only rider from across Cornwall and Devon to take part in in her jumping classes at this huge event.

Well done Kizzy! Budehaven is proud of you.

Big congrats also to Kizzy from Bude and Beyond.
